Our approach

Understand before you invest

Indian mutual funds offer a very large number of schemes, in categories that behave very differently. As your distributor, our job is to make sure you understand what a scheme invests in, what its documents say and what risks you take, before you put money in.

We do not rate or recommend schemes on this website, and we are not registered with SEBI as an Investment Adviser. Any suggestion we make to you is incidental to distribution and follows an assessment of your financial situation, investment experience and objectives. You can also invest on your own instruction (execution-only).

What we help you with

  • KYC and opening your investor account
  • Lumpsum investments, SIPs, STPs and SWPs
  • Switches and redemptions
  • Updating your bank, nominee and contact details
  • Account statements and capital gains statements
  • Periodic reviews of your investments, with you
  • Resolving complaints with the fund house

Types of mutual funds

SEBI groups schemes into equity, debt, hybrid and life cycle funds, and other schemes such as index funds, ETFs and fund of funds. Every scheme carries a risk-o-meter showing its level of risk, from Low to Very High.

Equity funds

Invest mainly in company shares: large cap, mid cap, small cap, flexi cap, value, sectoral and thematic funds, among others. Their value can rise or fall sharply, so they generally suit long holding periods.

Main riskShare prices can fall sharply, sometimes for long periods.

Debt funds

Invest in bonds, government securities and money-market instruments: overnight, liquid, money market, short duration, corporate bond and gilt funds, among others. Their returns are not fixed or guaranteed.

Main riskChanges in interest rates, and defaults by the issuers of the bonds held.

Hybrid funds

Invest in a mix of equity and debt, and some also in gold, silver or InvITs: conservative hybrid, balanced advantage, aggressive hybrid, multi-asset, arbitrage and equity savings funds.

Main riskDepends on the mix of assets; check the scheme’s risk-o-meter.

ELSS (tax saver) funds

Equity funds with a three-year lock-in on each investment. Under the old tax regime, investments can be claimed within the ₹1.5 lakh yearly deduction under section 123 of the Income-tax Act, 2025 (earlier section 80C). The new tax regime gives no such deduction.

Main riskEquity market risk, and no withdrawal for three years.

Index funds and ETFs

Passive funds that track an index such as the Nifty 50 or the Sensex instead of picking stocks, usually at a lower cost. ETFs are bought and sold on a stock exchange, through a demat account.

Main riskThey fall when the index falls, and returns differ slightly from it.

Life cycle funds

A category SEBI introduced in February 2026, for goals such as retirement or a child’s education. Each fund has a target year 5 to 30 years ahead, and moves from equity towards debt as that year approaches.

Main riskDepends on the mix of assets at each stage.

Ways to invest

Lumpsum, SIP, STP and SWP

LUMPSUM

One-time investment

Invest a single amount at one time.

SIP

Systematic Investment Plan

Invest a fixed amount every month, or at another interval you choose, by auto-debit from your bank account.

STP

Systematic Transfer Plan

Move a fixed amount at regular intervals from one scheme to another scheme of the same fund house.

SWP

Systematic Withdrawal Plan

Take out a fixed amount from a scheme at regular intervals.

How a SIP works

01

Discipline

Your instalment is debited automatically, so you keep investing whatever the mood of the market.

02

Rupee cost averaging

The same amount buys more units when the NAV is low and fewer when it is high, which evens out your average cost over time.

03

Compounding

Gains that stay invested can earn further gains. The longer your money stays invested, the more this matters.

A SIP does not guarantee a profit or protect you from a loss when markets fall. Mutual fund returns are not fixed.

Our process

How investing with us works

  1. Talk to us

Call or email us. We explain how mutual funds work, our role as your distributor and how we are paid.

  2. KYC and account set-up

We help you complete KYC, which is valid across all mutual funds, and set up your investor account, bank mandate and nominee.

  3. Your profile

We ask about your financial situation, investment experience and goals, and assess how much risk you can take.

  4. Your choice, with full disclosure

If you want our suggestion, we explain the scheme, its risk-o-meter and its documents, and tell you the commission we receive on it and on the other schemes we considered. You can also invest on your own instruction.

  5. Your transaction

We place it through NSE’s mutual fund platform, NMF II. You pay from your own bank account, to the mutual fund or through NMF II’s clearing system: never in cash, and never to Sumraksha.

  6. After you invest

We stay your point of contact for statements, changes to your details, redemptions, periodic reviews and any complaint.

Good to know

Before you invest

  • We deal only in Regular Plans. The fund house pays us a commission out of the scheme’s expenses, so a Regular Plan’s expense ratio is higher than that of the same scheme’s Direct Plan. Rates are on our Commission Disclosure page.
  • We do not charge you any fee. See our No Fee Statement.
  • Read the scheme’s Scheme Information Document (SID), Statement of Additional Information (SAI) and Key Information Memorandum (KIM), and check its risk-o-meter. They are on the SEBI website and on the fund house’s website.
  • Mutual funds do not guarantee returns. The value of your investment can fall as well as rise, and you can lose part of the money you invest.
  • We distribute schemes only of the mutual funds on our Registrations page. You may also consider other products, including Direct Plans, before you decide.
